Following the success of the Tardis Terrace in Preston, we have been commissioned to revitalise a row of 7, near derelict, stone terraces, in an area of Nelson called Whitefield.
This area has recently been subject to a controversial slum clearance order and subsequent reprieve. The idea is to re-work the terrace house, to create a contemporary living potential, which is more generous in space and natural light.
In this case the central 3 houses are to be converted into one-bed dwellings, whilst the 2 end pairs of terraces are to be converted into larger family houses. The same principles of light and space still permeate the project but are reinvented to created affordable family housing and a mixed community.
